How to Make Classic Piped Butter Cookies
- Prepare the Dough
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, then mix until everything is well combined.
Gradually add the flour and salt. Mix just until because soft dough forms. Avoid overmixing, as this can make the cookies less tender.
- Pipe the Cookies
Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle.
Pipe small swirls, rosettes, or other shapes onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each cookie.
If the dough feels too soft, place the tray in the refrigerator for about 10–15 minutes before baking.
